About Me
I am a socio-cultural anthropologist with expertise in global supply chains, migration (domestic and transnational), urbanization, industrialization, and contemporary China. My research focuses on the intersections of these areas and how they shape the world we live in. I am passionate about exploring the complexities of human behavior and social systems, and I strive to bring a critical lens to my work.
Education
I earned my PhD in Cultural Anthropology from University of California, Santa Cruz. My dissertation, titled "Global Supply Chains of Desires and Risks: The Crafting of Migrant Entrepreneurship in Guangzhou, China," explores the impact of global supply chains on labor and migration in China. I also hold an MA in Anthropology from UC Santa Cruz and a BA in International Relations and German from University of California, Davis.
Experience
I have worked as a post-doctoral scholar and researcher at the Cornell University School of Industrial and Labor Relations and the University of Goettingen in Germany. I have contributed to several projects related to migration and urbanization in China across the globe. I have also taught courses on anthropology at Duke Kunshan University, Cornell University, University of Goettingen, and UC Santa Cruz. I am currently on the Editorial Board of the flagship journal, Cultural Anthropology.
